Nations around the world are establishing themselves as leaders in blockchain and crypto innovation, valued at over $1 trillion, while the United States remains uncertain about its stance on the matter.

In response, companies such as Coinbase are taking legal action to force a decision, but the stakes are high.

If the SEC classifies cryptocurrency tokens such as Ripple’s XRP as commodities, the industry will be subject to fewer but more meaningful regulations. On the other hand, if it is classified as a security, there will be a substantial increase in regulations, negatively impacting the rest of the cryptocurrency industry.
